Blackhawk Kids

Blackhawk Kids (BKids) exists to create a community where kids, birth through sixth grade, can grow spiritually and connect relationally on their journey to become more like Jesus and love others like He does.

Small Group Leader

TWICE PER MONTH

Connect with a small group of kids during a service hour through playing, leading connection activities, participating in large group, and facilitating small group discussion and activities.

Sunday Room Leader

TWICE PER MONTH

Oversee one room during a service hour, checking in kids at the door, overseeing the flow of a service hour, supporting other volunteers in the room, and possibly also leading large group teaching.

Includer

TWICE PER MONTH

Spend one-on-one time with a child with special needs during a Sunday service hour to help them feel welcome, included, and engaged with BKids programming.

Security & Welcome

TWICE PER MONTH

Help families check their kids in, answer questions, and keep kids safe by monitoring the doors and halls during Sunday services.

Craft, Project, & Event Prep

MONTHLY

Prepare weekly crafts, be part of a team to execute special events and projects for kids and families, help design video sets, or host teaching videos used in Sunday videos.

Weekday Caregiver

ONCE PER WEEK DURING SCHOOL YEAR

Provide childcare while playing, teaching a Bible story, and assisting with crafts as a volunteer or paid caregiver during Blackhawk Bible Study on Wednesday mornings.

Blackhawk Kids

Care Ministry exists to create a culture of Christ-centered care that permeates the church, equipping and empowering the Blackhawk community to be an expression of God’s comfort and presence for those who are hurting.

Alongside

2-3 HOURS PER MONTH, FLEXIBLE

Provide presence and comfort for someone going through a difficult time by listening and praying over the phone or in person.

Prayer & Care

TWICE PER MONTH OR MORE

Be available to pray with individuals after Sunday services, providing compassion, a listening ear, and encouragement.

Electronic Prayer Team

WEEKLY

Intercede for our congregation by praying on your own over weekly anonymous prayer requests.

Encouraging Cards

FLEXIBLE

Offer encouragement through monthly cards to those who are struggling, hurting, or discouraged.

Care Group Facilitator

3 HOURS PER WEEK FOR 13 WEEKS

Help facilitate a Care Group for people navigating either the pain of divorce or separation or the loss of a loved one and help them see the comfort and presence of God.

College

College Ministry exists to equip students as they navigate their college experience with Jesus at the center.

Welcome people to Tuesday night gatherings and foster relational connections with and between people.

From setting up and tearing down the space to running audio and visuals, find a way to be more involved with at Tuesday night gatherings.

Worship Team

Lead worship at Tuesday night gatherings with direction from the worship leader and music director.

College Ministry exists to equip students as they navigate their college experience with Jesus at the center.

Facilities & Operations

Operations exists to help ministries flourish and allow people to experience God’s presence through logistical support and the creation of inviting spaces.

Decorating Artists

4-5 TIMES PER YEAR

Decorate for events like Christmas, Easter, and special services, creating a hospitable environment that helps softens hearts to the good news of Jesus.

Downtown Setup & Teardown

ONCE PER MONTH

Create an inviting atmosphere for Sunday services by helping set up the Upper House for services and reset for weekday ministry afterward.

Event Support

4-5 TIMES PER YEAR

Help create a welcoming space for special events through setting up and tearing down chairs and other equipment.

Facilities

WEEKLY

Support Blackhawk’s staff facilities team doing various tasks such as vacuuming, wiping down high-traffic areas, and other cleaning tasks.

Facilities Project Professionals

FLEXIBLE

Use your expertise as a general contractor, engineer, plumber, electrician, handy person, and related professions in support of the facilities team and ministries.

Kitchen Team

FLEXIBLE

Keep the Blackhawk Brader Way kitchen organized and stocked as a support to staff, ministries, and outside groups.

Safety Team

ONCE PER MONTH & FLEXIBLE OPTIONS

Use your skills and training as medical, fire, and law enforcement professionals to be on-call on Sundays and consult on best practices.

Multicultural Ministries

Multicultural Ministries (McM) exists to bring to life God’s vision of a multicultural community – one people, free to fully express our distinct ethnic cultures, who worship God in loving community with each other.

Translation

AS NEEDED

Help translate sermons and resource materials, website content, or special projects between English and other languages.

Multicultural Food Team

AS NEEDED

Provide snacks or meals for culture-specific or churchwide events.

Production

Production exists to support the audio, lighting, visuals, and video needs of Blackhawk Church by creating quality worship and teaching experiences.

Audio Tech

ONCE PER MONTH

Operate sound systems to support Sunday services and allow our congregation to worship and connect with God.

Camera Operator

ONCE PER MONTH

Operate a camera for Sunday services which allows content from the Live/Online service to be broadcast to all sites and venues and to the entire world as we stream online.

Lighting Operator

ONCE PER MONTH

Program and operate lighting for Sunday services to create environments that all people to worship freely.

Photographer

FLEXIBLE

Capture moments from regular church life and special events for use on the website, in communication and printed materials, and on social media.

Stagehand

ONCE PER MONTH

Help set up and clear the stage during Sunday services, move sermon props and the teaching pastor’s TV, and anything else that is needed to make the Live/Online service flow smoothly.

Video Switcher

ONCE PER MONTH

Operate the video switcher for Sunday service live broadcast, following the video director’s prompts, to make all the cameras work together smoothly.

Visuals Operator

ONCE PER MONTH

Operate visuals for Sunday services to help our congregation engage in worship and connect with Blackhawk’s teaching.

Spiritual Formation

Spiritual Formation exists to create opportunities for transformation where people can take their next step to follow Jesus, connect with others, learn more about their faith, and serve their community.

Bible Study Team

ONCE PER WEEK DURING SCHOOL YEAR

Prepare study ahead of time, guide discussions, and check in with group members during the week as a study leader or run audio and tech for lectures as part of the tech team.

Community Group Leader

ONCE PER WEEK DURING SCHOOL YEAR

Lead small groups of people in spiritual growth and community, including those who welcome anyone and those with a special focus based on life stage, age group, or language.

Courses Team

ONCE PER WEEK DURING 6-WEEK COURSE

Support a Blackhawk course in a way that fits your gifts, whether organizing and planning sessions, running tech, helping with set-up and clean-up, facilitating conversations, or organizing snacks or group activities.

Writers

Help write questions for message discussion guide that are used throughout the week by community groups and individuals seeking resources for deeper contemplation.

Student Ministry exists to build a loving community of middle and high schoolers who are taking next steps in our journey toward Christ together and reaching students and families in our communities with Jesus’ love.

Community Group Leader

Help facilitate small groups and plan large group time at weekly gathering of students and optionally connect with students outside of group.

Mentor

ONCE PER MONTH

Walk alongside one or two students as they grow in their faith through activities that fit your dynamic, such as getting coffee, going through a bible study together, or actively serving together.

Asian American Student Ministry Leader

ONCE PER WEEK DURING SCHOOL YEAR

Help facilitate small groups and plan large group time at weekly culture-specific gatherings of Asian American students and optionally connect with students outside of group.

ONCE PER WEEK DURING SCHOOL YEAR

Serve one-to-one with students with special needs or disabilities in order to make sure they can meaningfully engage in programming.

High School Lounge Leader

ONCE PER WEEK DURING SCHOOL YEAR

Facilitate intentional conversation for a co-ed small group discussing the sermon similar to adult Community Groups.

Hospitality

AS DESIRED DURING SCHOOL YEAR

Prepare and deliver heavy hors d’oeuvres or snacks for students to eat between the evening Sunday service and High School Ministry Lounge.

Welcome & Hospitality

Welcome & Hospitality exists to create a safe, warm, and welcoming environment that cultivates connection, life change, and an openness to hear God’s word.

Greeter

ONCE PER MONTH

Welcome people to the building with a friendly smile and answer questions or provide direction if needed.

Usher

ONCE PER MONTH

Warmly welcome people into Sunday services and help them find seats.

Next Steps Team

ONCE PER MONTH

Monitor the Next Steps area on Sundays, providing a friendly hello for new people and helping those who are ready take a step in their faith journey.

Welcome Desk

Create an inviting atmosphere by helping people figure out where to go, answering questions, and providing information about Blackhawk ministries and events.

Parking

ONCE PER MONTH

Welcome people to Blackhawk by helping with light traffic direction as people enter and exit our lots.

Coffee Team

ONCE PER MONTH

Prepare and set out coffee before and between services and offer people a warm cup of coffee on their way in.

Communion Team

ONCE PER MONTH

Help people worship Jesus through communion by setting up and restocking before and between services and cleaning up after services.

Hospitality Team

3-4 TIMES PER YEAR OR MORE

Provide shopping and serving for various events that involve food, including funerals, baptisms, congregational meetings, and special events.

Baking Team

Provide baked goods for funerals and other church events.

Welcome & Hospitality

Worship Arts

Worship Arts exists to build a Christ-centered arts community to glorify God and help lead Blackhawk Church to experience God’s presence.

Instrumentalist

1-2 TIMES PER MONTH

Use your experience as a musician to create an atmosphere where people can draw close to God’s presence and feel His spirit moving.

Performance Arts

INTERMITTENT

Use your artistic gifts of dance, acting, spoken word, and other performance arts to bring further beauty to worship.

Vocalist

1-2 TIMES PER MONTH

Use your experience as a vocalist to guide the room in worship and point others to Christ. Must be capable of singing both melody and harmony parts.
