We serve kids from birth through 6th grade, offering age-appropriate programming in our various ministries

Where to volunteer:

• NURSERY (Birth-18 months) | Show these little ones that church is safe, welcoming, and fun! Comfort them, smile, engage, and play. Through your care, they experience God’s love.
• TODDLER: PURPLE ROOM (18-24 months) | ORANGE ROOM (~2 years) | These kids are learning fast and want to do everything themselves. Connect with them, celebrate their accomplishments, and model patience and love.
• WONDER: YELLOW ROOM (~3 years) | GREEN ROOM (~4 years) | KINDERGARTEN | Curious and relational, these children are figuring out how the world works. They need to know you enjoy being with them. Listen to their stories, answer their questions, and give them your full attention.
• DISCOVER: FIRST & SECOND & THIRD GRADE | Help first graders celebrate what makes everyone unique. Help second graders discover their talents while cheering on their friends. Walk with third graders as they navigate friendships and find where they belong.
• LAUNCH: FOURTH, FIFTH & SIXTH GRADE | Fourth graders need help connecting with peers in small groups. Fifth graders need you to believe in their potential. Sixth graders need a safe space to explore faith and ask questions as they grow more independent.

• ROOM LEADER | Oversee one room during a service hour—checking in kids, managing the flow, supporting volunteers, and possibly hosting large group time. Great for those who are welcoming, organized, and comfortable leading kids and volunteers.
• SMALL GROUP/ACTIVITY LEADER | Connect with a small group of kids through play, activities, large group participation, and small group discussions. Perfect if you love building consistent relationships that point kids to God.
• NURSERY HELPER | Provide warm, positive care for babies (birth–18 months) during a service hour. If you love snuggling babies, this is your role!
• INCLUDER | Spend one-on-one time with a child with special needs to help them feel welcome, included, and engaged in BKids programming. Ideal if you enjoy working with kids with special needs.
• WELCOME TEAM | Be the first friendly face families see on Sundays! Provide a warm presence in kids hallways, welcome new families, and answer questions. Perfect if you love making people feel at home.
• SECURITY MONITOR | Keep our hallways safe while kids are in our care. Serve as a point person for families, answer questions, and ensure security. Great for those who enjoy playing an integral role in safety.
• BEHIND THE SCENES | Prepare rooms for Sunday or prep crafts (mostly done remotely). Perfect for those who enjoy a flexible schedule and working behind the scenes.
• CONNECTION TEAM | Help with special events or projects on site. Ideal if you’re looking to connect with and serve families in meaningful ways.
• WEEKDAY CHILDCARE PROVIDER | Care for children (birth–5 years) during weekday Bible Study gatherings at Blackhawk Brader Way. Perfect if you’d like to spend time with children during the week.

Volunteers make Blackhawk Kids possible! Without them, we couldn’t safely open our doors and invite kids to discover God’s love. That’s why we’re committed to loving on and equipping volunteers throughout their serving experience.

Ways we care for our volunteers:

• Snacks & Coffee | Located in the BKids Canteen or Volunteer Central space at your site before or after serving
• Training | Initial training as you onramp into your role as well as ongoing training opportunities throughout the year
• Appreciation Events | Opportunities to connect with other volunteers and let our team appreciate you

We offer bonus programming during the 10:45 service for children of BKids volunteers so parents can serve during one service and attend church during the other. BKids+ includes free play, snack, worship, and a bonus bible activity.
